Volunteers of America is a national, nonprofit, faith-based organization providing local human service programs, as well as opportunities for individual and community involvement.

Established locally in 1911, Volunteers of America Greater Sacramento & Northern Nevada's ongoing mission to reach and uplift all people has expanded to include families with children, seniors, the homeless, former foster youth, and people with substance abuse issues. Our goal? To end homelessness, support the most vulnerable populations and transform the community into a better place.

Our professional staff currently operates more than 40 locally managed and delivered programs. Services provided include food and shelter, counseling, independent living and parenting skills, substance-abuse treatment and rehabilitation, and job training. Learn more about us.

Haiti survivors

Due to the devastating Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti, as many as 3 million people are in need of food, water, medical care and housing. Our sister office, Volunteers of America Southeast, is working directly with God's Littlest Angels, a well-established, faith-based orphanage in Haiti.

Other Volunteers of America directly involved include Volunteers of America Michigan and Volunteers of America Los Angeles.
