More than 350 families throughout Volunteers of America’s 45 programs enjoyed a brighter
Christmas in 2007 thanks to your
generous contributions to Caring Gifts.

Caring Gifts children

Volunteers of America's annual Caring Gifts program, which includes the Adopt-a-Family and Gift of Warmth campaigns, was an overwhelming success in 2007, with some 350 homeless and low-income families, and more than 1,000 homeless individuals enjoying a brighter Christmas season thanks to the generosity of the Sacramento-area community. Adopt-a-Family
The 2008 Caring Gifts campaign began Nov. 3, when Christmas wish lists filled out by homeless children and their families in our transitional living programs – as well as by seniors in our affordable-housing apartments – become available to donors wishing to "adopt" those in need during this holiday season.

To obtain a wish list, please contact Kim Castaneda at 916.442.3691 or
kimc@voa-sac.org.

We ask that all gifts be gift-wrapped and tagged and brought to the Volunteers of America administration office at 1900 Point West Way, Suite 270, Sacramento, no later than 4 p.m. Dec. 12, 2008. Administration office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed Saturday and Sunday and major holidays).

The Gift of Warmth
More than 1,850 homeless men and women will find refuge in one of Volunteers of America's homeless shelters this year. During the cold-and-wet winter months, life on the street is an especially harsh existence.

"The Gift of Warmth" campaign helps remind those most in need that they are not forgotten, while providing essential personal items to help ward off the winter chill.

For more on our Gift of Warmth campaign, please click here.

Wrap It Up!
While we do ask that your Adopt-a-Family and Adopt-a-Senior gift donations be gift-wrapped, tagged and ready to give, we know we will have an abundance of Gift of Warmth hat/globe/scarf/sock sets in need of a volunteer's personal touch with paper, bows, tissue and tape.

To volunteer for one of our “Wrap-It-Up” events, set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 13 and Dec. 20, go to our volunteer opportunties page and select the Wrap It Up option.

We'd love to hear from you
