Our Senior Safe House, Residential Family Center and Reno shelters among those programs now offering public one-hour tours

Sacramento Senior Safe House, transitional housing program for former foster youth, Family Shelter

Volunteers of America Greater Sacramento & Northern Nevada regularly schedules tours of its various program facilities to allow community members to gain a firsthand look at how restored hope can turn a person's life around.

These intimate one-hour tours also serve to introduce the public to Volunteers of America and its ongoing mission to reach and uplift all people.

Tours are now scheduled at three of our Sacramento programs: our Sacramento Senior Safe House (pictured top right) – a unique shelter for abused and neglected seniors; our transitional housing program for former foster youth; and at our Residential Family Center, which late in 2009 transitioned from a shelter for singles, to a 62-bed emergency shelter for homeless families.

Monthly tours also are being offered at Reno's Community Assistance Center, home of our Family Shelter, Men's Shelter and Women's Shelter.

Those interested in RSVPing for one of the scheduled Sacramento tours listed below – or those interested in arranging a private tour for a community service or employee group – are invited to contact Community Relations Manager Kim Castaneda at kimc@voa-sac.org or 916.442.3691. Those interested in touring our Reno facilities are asked to contact Northern Nevada Regional Director Shirley Gibson at 775.322.7143 or sgibson@voa-nv.org.
