at Save Mart Supermarket in Orangevale!

Volunteers of America Operation Backpack

Operation Backpack, set for July 11-25, is Volunteers of America's annual back-to-school drive that invites the community to join the campaign to purchase and donate new backpacks and school supplies for those children most in need.

This year, with the sponsorship and support of Fox40 KTXL, the Sacramento River Cats, Washington Mutual, Save Mart Supermarkets, Signature Graphics, Macy's and Mead, Volunteers of America is hoping to provide even more than the 1,500 backpacks distributed in 2007 to disadvantaged children in the Greater Sacramento area.

The Orangevale Save Mart at 8839 Greenback Lane will host the campaign's kick-off event from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. July 10 (Thursday), which will feature KGBY-My925's Heather Lee and the My925 Street Crew on site with music, games and prizes. Also present for the kick-off event will be the Fox40 KTXL promotional team with a variety of Fox40 giveaways. (watch Fox40's kick-off promo above right)
