Senior Services

According to the Employee Benefit Research Institute ...

  • Only 20 to 25 percent of working Americans are very confident they'll have enough money to live. comfortably through their retirement years.
  • 51 percent are worried they will not have enough money for long-term health care.
  • 30 percent do not think they'll have enough money to support themselves in retirement no matter how long they live.
  • Nearly one-third of Americans are not saving for retirement.
  • Almost 50 percent of nonsavers cite "too many current financial responsibilities" as the most important reason they do not save.

For many, the future is now, with inadequate health care and financial resources leaving seniors facing uncertainty during their "golden years." A lack of options and familial support may lead to homelessness or abuse.

Volunteers of America provides referrals for affordable housing, personal care, housekeeping, transportation and meals through its
Service Coordination for Affordable Senior Housing Program.

Emergency shelter for abused seniors is available at Volunteers of America's Sacramento Senior Safe House.
