Supporting the Sacramento Senior Safe House

The Sacramento Senior Safe House: Your sponsorship of a single day of operation can make a meaningful difference

As of June 2011, you have provided 630 days of love, compassion, respect and, most importantly, safety to our community’s most-vulnerable older citizens.

“A few of our guests only needed us for a day, others stayed with us for as long as three months,” said Juanita Daniel, program director of the emergency shelter for abused and neglected seniors. “But what they all found was a beautiful and loving environment where they could feel truly safe from the horrific situations in which they found themselves.”

Truly a gift from our community, California’s only senior safe house was founded by Maxine Milner Krugman, and made possible through the support of Mercy Housing, Homeaid Sacramento, Lennar, and the contributions of many donors and volunteers.

While they helped open the doors, you can make sure they stay open.

How you can support the safe house

1) Sacramento Senior Safe House endowment: Give a gift today, or designate a  future gift to this fund, and you can ensure a legacy of protection and compassion for vulnerable seniors in our community.

2) Sponsor a Day: With a gift of $550, you can provide one day of shelter, food, case management, socialization, friendship, love and respect for six seniors in need. Consider making it an annual tradition as a special way to commemorate a birthday or honor the memory of a loved one.
